The National Sanctioned Events Series are the competitive events from which the Annual Rankings are compiled to determine the South African Stand Up Paddle boarding  Champions in the following disciplines: Racing, Surfing, Downwind Racing  and Overall Champion.

Trophies are awarded annually to the winners in each discipline the Open Men and Women, Junior Boys and Girls ( U18), Legends and Diva’s ( O45) Age Divisions.

In addition the National rankings are used as one of the selection criteria when selecting the South African National Team to compete at the annual ISA World Stand Up Paddle boarding And Paddle boarding Championships. Last year, Tarryn King from Cape Town became South Africa’s first SUP World Champion after winning the 200m Sprint Gold Medal at the event held in Wanning China.

This year’s Race Series kicks off with one of the most popular events on the annual calendar,  the Signature Century City SUP Challenge being held at Century City in Cape Town on Sunday 3 March 2019. A 10km flatwater race will be held on the canals around Intaka Island for competitive athletes, along with various social fun races for all types of boards which promise loads of fun and great prizes for the whole family regardless of their level of experience.
