ABOUT

SUPSA

Stand-Up Paddling South Africa (SUPSA) in partnership with Surfing South Africa,  is the national sports body for stand-up paddle board riding in South Africa. SUPSA was formalised in September 2010 in Cape Town after initial discussions in the previous year from among KZN SUP riders about the need for a body to regulate the sport in South Africa.

Vision

To continue to develop Stand Up Paddleboarding’s appeal as a dynamic sport and experience that gives people of all ages and all communities the opportunity to enjoy a unique way of life.

Mission Statement

SUPSA is the recognised body for Stand Up Paddleboarding in South Africa. We have formed a partnership with Canoeing South Africa (CSA) and Surfing South Africa (SSA), which will enable us to participate at a competitive level in International SUPing.

Our aim is to make the sport accessible to all and to set the highest standards from entry through to the elite levels.

We will achieve our mission through the ongoing implementation of SUP training programmes, as well as facilitating entries into competitive local and international paddling events. This will assist in the transformation  and growth of our sport at all levels.

SUPSA caters for both SUP surfing and SUP racing disciplines within sport and in partnership with Surfing South Africa, sanctions national and regional contests to allow SUP riders to gain formal recognition within the sports community. SUPSA also actively promotes the SUP lifestyle as a social value in itself and is engaged in facilitating awareness and education about the sport. SUPSA’s mission is to grow the sport in South Africa in Partnership with Surfing South Africa and the International Surfing Association.
