MEET THE TEAM – OPEN WOMEN

Tarryn King –  Technical & Sprint

Our top SUP Open Woman for the last 10 years! Wow, how Tarryn stays on the top of her game is inspiring!

Tarryn has been Stand up paddling and surfing for several years. She took a short break from the international racing stage as she started her family, but in 2023, Tarryn made an incredible comeback, winning two bronze medals in the Sprints at both the ISA and ICF SUP World Championships. She has decided to take 2024 to focus on competing professionally and has already embarked on two successful trips to Europe in the first part of the year. With SUNOVA backing her surf, racing and SUP endeavours, she’s fully back on the competitive scene, actively pursuing her goals, and we eagerly await to see how the rest of the season will unfold!

Tarryn will be taking part in the Open Women’s Technical and Sprint Races in Denmark. A mom, wife, surfer, stand up paddler, coach and fitness mentor, Tarryn is ready to race!

MEET THE TEAM – MANAGER & SUPPORTER

Gareth Mountain – Manager

Gareth Mountain grew up amidst the surf and sand of Cape Town, following his father’s legacy in surf lifesaving from an early age. His journey then took him to London and Johannesburg, where in 2013, he began stand-up paddleboarding to strengthen his body before undergoing his second back surgery.

After the surgery, Gareth became passionate about the sport, and upon returning to Cape Town in 2015, he also embraced downwind paddling. As a member of the Clifton Surf Lifesaving Masters team, he earned a medal at the SA Nationals. Now residing in The Netherlands, Gareth continues to train and race with the Dutch SUP team.

Having competed in two SUP World Championships in 2021 and 2023, Gareth is set to lead the team as manager, ensuring their success on the global stage.
