About Us

Stand-Up Paddling South Africa (SUPSA), in partnership with Surfing South Africa (SSA) and Canoeing South Africa (CSA), is the official governing body for stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and prone paddleboard riding in South Africa. Established in September 2010 in Cape Town, SUPSA was born out of a shared vision among early paddling enthusiasts from Cape Town and KwaZulu-Natal to create a structured and inclusive platform for the growth of these sports nationwide.

Vision

To inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to embrace stand-up paddleboarding as a vibrant sport and lifestyle, fostering connections with nature, community, and a sense of adventure.

Mission Statement

SUPSA champions the development and recognition of stand-up paddleboarding and prone paddleboarding in South Africa. Our partnerships with SSA and CSA enable us to promote our athletes and elevate the sport on both local and international stages.

SUPSA supports both SUP surfing and SUP racing disciplines by sanctioning national and regional competitions, ensuring riders gain formal acknowledgment within the broader sports community.

Our mission is to make the sport accessible to everyone, maintaining high standards from grassroots participation to elite-level competition.

We achieve this through:

  • Implementing robust SUP training programs.
  • Facilitating athlete participation in competitive events locally and globally.
  • Driving the transformation and sustainable growth of the sport at all levels.

Join us in shaping the future of stand-up paddleboarding in South Africa!
